Imperative to Ensure Continued Quality Health Care

Quality primary care requires compassion, persistence, and acommitment to community that ensures everyone has access to and receives thecare they need. That has never been moreof an imperative than now, amid federal cutbacks that are eliminating healthinsurance coverage to many local residents and increasing premiumssubstantially to many more – pushing costs beyond the ability to pay forthousands of people across our city, region and state.

“We are determined to sustain the caliber of care that ismaking a life-changing difference in the lives of our neighbors, their familiesand our entire community,” says Michael R. Taylor, President and CEO of CornellScott-Hill Health Center. “Our resolve will not diminish. With communitysupport, we will continue to impact lives in meaningful and enduring ways.”

The Foundation, since it began just two years ago, hasearned widespread support from donors across the region - from community partnerssuch as Yale New Haven Health, leading businesses including Bank of America, and scores of local residents.

Patient Access Fund Responds to Increasing Need

Each and every donation to the recently launched PatientAccess Fund helps to sustain quality care and responds to the urgent need, prompted by unprecedented revisions to federal policies, tremendous uncertaintyregarding continued access to healthcare coverage, and well-founded fears aboutthe economic impact on families needing access to fundamental, basic healthcareservices. Concerns are likely tointensify, as federal changes due to take effect in 2027 includerecertification of Medicaid work requirements, which could result in even morepeople losing their health care.

“The most vulnerable people in our communities are now theleast protected,” explains Foundation Chair LindyLee Gold. “They are buffeted by unfathomable choices –which increasingly means that healthcare is deferred, putting themselves orfamily members at risk. Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center’s dedicated andaccomplished staff is ever present, so that people will not need to delay whatis necessary.”
